OUR APPROACH:

We believe in unpretentious food, pure flavors and quality ingredients served in an atmosphere that is stylish, approachable and comfortable. A meal at Skylark’s should be an oasis from the pressures of life.

FOOD:

Cooking from scratch with original recipes using local vendors and products whenever possible. Blending classic favorites with contemporary trends. We are not reinventing the wheel, we are improving it. Always evolving while maintaining the integrity of our most popular dishes.

SERVICE:

Your experience at Skylark’s is more than just the food. Our staff makes a sincere effort to create a welcoming environment. We go to great lengths to make every guest feel at ease, comfortable and well taken care of.

AMBIANCE:

Historically stylish, featuring the warmth of handcrafted woodwork and the deep hues and golden accents of the Victorian era. Slightly elegant, yet charming with a variety of dining spaces suited to your changing moods. One part neighborhood café, one part elegant bistro, and one part family dining room.

HISTORY:

In the summer 1995 Skylark’s Fountain & Mercantile opened in Sycamore Square, two blocks up Harris Ave from our current location. Originally, we specialized in ice cream treats, candies and gifts with just a few light lunches. During our second year we moved to our location on the cobblestone alleyways on Eleventh Street and soon changed the name to Skylark’s Hidden Café. The ice cream fountain, gifts and candies were discontinued and a more substantial lunch menu introduced.

Over the course of the next 8 years, we evolved into a full service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, beer and wine. In 2006 we expanded, adding a full service bar, tripling our seating capacity and adding live jazz on the weekends. Since then we have continued to grow and develop our style and quality.

Most recently, we have updated our food with a new “Bistro Menu” featuring new contemporary foods and addressing the special dietary preferences of our customers. After nearly 20 years, our story continues.
